This is still a work in progress but this is a database of the major frequent flyer programs with links to award charts and other ways to earn miles other than flying. There are several ways to earn frequent flyer miles (such as credit cards, dining rewards programs, shopping portals, taking surveys and other partners) without actually flying.
If you are unsure which programs are right for you please read our Which Frequent Flyer Programs Should I Sign Up For post.

Southwest Airlines
- Award Charts: None. Southwest’s mileage program is a revenue award program (unlike United and AA) meaning the amount of points is related to the price of the ticket. Therefore, Southwest is not the program to use if you want to collect miles in order to use them for expensive flights. The main reason to collect Southwest Rewards versus just using a cash back credit card is the ability to earn the Southwest Companion Pass which allows your companion to fly free with you (on both paid and award tickets).
- Shopping: Rapid Rewards Shopping; can transfer points earned from Ultimate Rewards mall
- Dining: Rapid Rewards Dining
- Making Referrals: Referring the credit cards to friends/family via the Chase refer-a-friend program.
- All other partners here
- Credit Cards: Chase offers 5 versions of its Southwest credit cards (3 personal and 2 business) and you can also transfer miles from Chase Ultimate Rewards. Miles earned from the sign up bonus of Southwest credit cards count towards the valuable Southwest Companion pass. The sign up from 2 credit cards bonuses should be close to the amount needed for the companion pass.
- Tips: Best use of Southwest Rapid Rewards points is the Southwest Companion pass; Sign up bonus on credit cards goes up and down so only apply if can find a 50,000 sign up bonus or higher.
