Southwest offers international flights to many popular travel destinations in Mexico, Costa Rica and the Caribbean so it is also a great option for shorter international flights to warm weather destinations.

Where Does Southwest Fly Internationally?

(*Even though Puerto Rico is a US territory and is considered a domestic flight from the US, it has been included in the list because some Americans think it is an international flight.)

Please note that Southwest has temporarily suspended flight service to some international destinations due to the coronavirus pandamic. Some international flights have resumed (or scheduled to resume later this year) but some countries have requirements for visitors (including forms to fill out, mandatory COVID-19 tests or quarantine requirements).

Current information about which Southwest international flights have been suspended and when they are expected to resume can be found below. Southwest is now accepting reservations through January 4, 2021 so you can book most international flights for later this year even if flights are not currently operating.

Aruba

  • Aruba (AUA) – Nonstop service from Baltimore/Washington, MD (BWI) – flights currently suspended but scheduled to resume November 1, 2020

 

Bahamas

  • Nassau, Bahamas (NAS) – Nonstop service from Baltimore/Washington, MD (BWI) – flights currently suspended 

 

Belize

  • Belize City, Belize (BZE) – Nonstop service from Denver, CO (DEN), Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL) and Houston Hobby, TX (HOU) – flights suspended and expected to resume next year

 

Costa Rica

  • Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) – Nonstop service from Houston Hobby, TX (HOU) – flights currently suspended – expected to resume November 1, 2020
  • San José, Costa Rica (SJO) – Nonstop service from Baltimore/Washington, MD (BWI), Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL) and Houston Hobby, TX (HOU) – flights currently suspended

 

Cuba

  • Havana, Cuba (HAV) – Nonstop service from Tampa, FL (TPA) – flights currently suspended – expected to resume on August 1, 2020

 

Dominican Republic

  • Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ) – Nonstop service from Baltimore/Washington, MD (BWI) – flights suspended and will not resume before November 1, 2020.

 

Grand Cayman

  • Grand Cayman (GCM) – Nonstop service from Baltimore/Washington, MD (BWI), Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL) and Houston Hobby, TX (HOU) – flights suspended and expected to resume next year

 

Jamaica

  • Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ) – Nonstop service from Baltimore/Washington, MD (BWI), Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL), Orlando, FL (MCO) – approved pre-travel authorization form required prior to boarding and/or entering Jamaica 

 

Mexico

  • Cancun, Mexico (CUN) – Nonstop service from Austin, TX (AUS), Baltimore/Washington, MD (BWI), Denver, CO (DEN), Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL), Houston Hobby, TX (HOU), Chicago (Midway), IL (MDW)
  • Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos, Mexico (SJD) – Nonstop service from Denver, CO (DEN), Houston Hobby, TX (HOU) and Phoenix (PHX)
