We have written before about Chase’s refer-a-friend program which we use to earn extra points when a close friend or family member applies for a new Chase credit card. There have been some changes to the list of cards that offer a Chase refer-a-friend bonus in the last few months so we thought it was time for an updated post.

There are several Chase credit cards currently offering a referral bonus for referring those credit cards to family or friends if they apply and are approved using your referral link.

How Chase Refer a Friend Works

For anyone not familiar, Chase offers the opportunity to earn points for referring its credit cards through chasereferafriend.com. The way Chase refer-a-friend works is that will you receive bonus points (usually 5,000 or 10,000 or 20,000 depending on the card) for each person who applies and is approved for a credit card using your referral link. You can invite as many people as you want but there is a maximum cap of how many bonus points per calendar year that you can earn total for each card.

To earn a Chase referral bonus visit chasereferafriend.com and enter your last name, zip code and last 4 digits of your card to see if your card is eligible for a referral bonus at that time. If your Chase card is eligible you will see a list of 3 options for sharing your referral link (Email, Facebook and/or Twitter).

Email is the slowest option – it will take up to 7 days for them to receive the email. If you choose email you must provide your friend’s first name and email address and they be sent an email from the person referring them & Chase.  The email will also mention the amount of the sign up bonus and an application deadline.

There are also options to post a general invitation link on Facebook and Twitter and generate the link instantly. Even if you do not have a Twitter or Facebook account (or you just don’t want to post your link) you can choose that option to generate your referral link instantly and email it to your friends on your own.

(Warning: If your friends apply for a lot of credit cards they might not be approved. Most Chase cards are subject to the Chase 5/24 rule for credit card approvals meaning applicants will not be easily approved (if at all) if they have applied for more than 5 cards from any bank in the last 24 months. See this post for more information about the 5/24 rule.)

Chase Credit Cards Currently Offering Refer-a-Friend Bonus

The referral bonus is not offered for all Chase credit cards. Chase does not provide a list of cards that are currently offering referrals so if you want to make a referral you would have to enter your information on chasereferafriend.com for all your Chase cards to see if you are eligible to earn a referral bonus.

Here is a list of the Chase credit cards I found that are currently offering a referral bonus:

Chase Ink Business Preferred

You will earn 20,000 points per Chase Ink Business Preferred up to a maximum of 100,000 points per calendar year. Here is our referral link.

This is a great time to apply for the Chase Business Preferred as it has a sign up bonus of 80,000 Ultimate Rewards points.

Chase Ink Plus

You can no longer generate a referral link for the Chase Ink Plus card as it is no longer open to new applicants. However, if you have a Chase Ink Plus you can generate a referral for the Chase Ink Business Preferred card above.

You will earn 20,000 points per Chase Ink Business Preferred up to a maximum of 100,000 points per calendar year. Here is our referral link.

Chase Ink Cash

You will earn 10,000 points per Chase Ink Cash referral up to a maximum of 50,000 points per calendar year. Here is our referral link.

This is a great time to apply for the Chase Ink Cash as it has a higher than usual sign up bonus of 30,000 (or $300 cash back) rather than the usual 20,000 (or $200 cash back).

Chase Freedom

You will earn 10,000 points (or $100 cash) per referral up to a maximum of 50,000 points (or $500 cash) per calendar year.  Here is our referral link for anyone that would like to use it.

The Chase Freedom is offering a higher than usual sign up bonus of $150 (or 15,000 points) AND $25 (or 2,500 points) bonus when you add your first authorized user and make your first purchase within 3-months.  The normal sign up bonus for the Freedom is $100 (or 10,000 points) but it has been as high as $200 (or 20,000 points) a few times in the past.  Now is a good time to apply (since the bonus is $150 rather than the usual $100).  It is possible that the bonus might be increased to $200 again but it might not.

Chase Freedom Unlimited

You will earn 10,000 points (or $100 cash) per referral up to a maximum of 50,000 points (or $500 cash) per calendar year. Here is our referral link for anyone that would like to use it.

The Chase Freedom Unlimited is offering a sign up bonus of $150 (or 15,000 points) AND $25 (or 2,500 points) bonus when you spend $500 and add your first authorized user and make your first purchase within 3-months.

Chase Sapphire Preferred

You will earn 10,000 points per referral up to a maximum of 50,000 points per calendar year. Here is our referral link for anyone that would like to use it.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred is offering 50,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases and 5,000 bonus points after adding the first authorized user and making first purchase in the first 3 months from account opening.

Chase is not yet offering a referral bonus for the new Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

United MileagePlus Explorer

You will earn 10,000 points per referral up to a maximum of 50,000 points per calendar year. Visit www.chase.com/ReferUnited between March 7- April 18, 2017.

The United MileagePlus Explorer is offering 50,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases and 5,000 bonus points after adding the first authorized user and making first purchase in the first 3 months from account opening.

Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier and Plus cards

Chase is offering a referral bonus on both the Premier and Plus cards. You will earn 10,000 points per referral up to a maximum of 50,000 points per calendar year.

The referral links offer a sign up bonus of 50,000 which is higher than the official 40,000 sign up bonus offered on chase.com. We do not have any referral links but you are welcome to use one of the reader links in this post. This is a great time to apply for one or more Southwest cards in order to earn 110,000 miles needed for a Southwest companion pass as it would be valid for all of 2017 and 2018.

Disney Rewards Visa Card

You will receive $50 Disney Dream Reward Dollars per referral up to a maximum of $500 reward dollars per calendar year.

The referral links offer a sign up bonus of a $200 Disney Gift Card after spending $500 in the first 3 months from account opening which is higher than the official sign up bonus offered on chase.com.

This card is not subject to the Chase 5/24 rule.

Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card

You will earn 10,000 points per referral up to a maximum of 50,000 points per calendar year.  The Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card is offering a higher than usual sign up bonus of 80,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening and 7,500 bonus points when you add the first authorized user.

If you have one of these Chase credit cards and you know a friend or family member that would be interested in applying as well, you can send them a referral through chasereferafriend.com to earn bonus points for yourself.  If you are interested in applying for these cards and do not know anyone to send you a referral, we would be grateful if you use our referral links for the Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom UnlimitedInk Cash, Ink Business Preferred or the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Am I missing any other Chase cards that are eligible for referral right now? You are also welcome to leave your referral link or email in the comments below.
