Wondering what is the best credit card for Lyft? If you frequently use Lyft (like I do) it is important to use a card that will save you money or will give you extra points for Lyft rides.  Below are the best credit cards to use for Lyft as well as other ways to earn miles and points or save money that you might not be taking advantage of.

Save Money on Lyft

SoFi Money – Earn 20% cashback on all Lyft Rides

Right now the best way to save money on Lyft is not a credit card but a debit card.  SoFi Money gives you 20% cashback on all Lyft rides until Feb. 18, 2020 when you pay with your SoFi money card. Everyone in my family has a SoFi Money account as it earns you 1.60% APY on all your cash and has no account fees.  This is one of the best debit cards for travelers as it does not charge ATM fees or foreign transaction fees.

Tip: Use our referral link to get $25 when you fund your account with at least $100. (We earn $25 too.) Once you have a SoFi Money account, you can earn $25 for every person you refer after you sign up.

Rakuten App – Earn $0.25 Per Lyft Ride

For those not familiar with Rakuten (formerly Ebates), it is a cashback portal where you can earn cashback for online and in-store purchases. If you take a Lyft ride by going through the Rakuten app first you can earn $0.25 per Lyft ride. While not a lot of money, it does add up especially for those that take a lot of short Lyft rides. If you don’t have Rakuten yet, you can get a $10 bonus when you sign up with our referral link and spend $25.(We will earn a referral bonus too).  There is also an option to earn Amex Membership Rewards instead of cashback for those that have a Membership Rewards-enrolled American Express Card.

More Ways to Earn Miles and Points for Lyft Rides

Make sure to take advantage of the following partnerships to earn miles and hotel points for Lyft rides.

Delta SkyMiles. Earn 1 Delta mile per $1 on every U.S. Lyft ride (excludes taxes, fees, tolls and tips). To start earning Delta miles for Lyft rides, visit https://www.deltalyft.com to link your Delta SkyMiles and Lyft accounts.

Hilton Honors points. Earn 3 Hilton Honors Points per $1 spent on Lyft rides (economy, luxury and extra seats) and 2 Hilton HonorsPoints per $1 spent on shared Lyft rides. You can also redeem your Hilton Honors Points for Lyft credits. To start earning Hilton Honors points for Lyft rides, visit https://hiltonhonorslyft.com/hiltonhonorslyft to link your Hilton Honors and Lyft accounts.

As you can see because of the Chase-Lyft partnership most of the best credit cards for Lyft are issued by Chase. While the premium Chase Sapphire Reserve card earns 10X points for Lyft rides, it has a high annual fee so it is only useful for frequent travelers.  Other Chase cards earn 5X for Lyft rides including the Chase Sapphire Preferred card (which is probably the best travel credit card with a reasonable annual fee of $95) and the Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Unlimited cards (which both have no annual fee).  However, because of the SoFi partnership you will get the best value by using your SoFi card for 20% cashback on all Lyft rides until February 18, 2020.
