Many of you are aware that Singapore Airlines is devaluating their mileage chart for bookings starting on March 23, 2017, so if you have any Singapore Suites saver award redemptions in mind you might want to book them as soon as possible because they will soon require more miles.

Summary of Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer changes for bookings ticketed on or after March 23, 2017:

Singapore Airlines is raising award prices for some saver awards ticketed on or after March 23, 2017. Singapore Airlines is also eliminating the 15% online booking discount which applied to Singapore Suites awards that were booked online.  On a positive note, Singapore Airlines is eliminating fuel surcharges on Singapore and Silkair award redemptions so even though award bookings will require more miles you will have to pay less cash.  For more details on the changes to the KrisFlyer program see the announcement on singaporeair.com and the links to the existing award chart and the new March 23 award chart.

Singapore Airlines Suites Routes

Here is the list of current routes that feature Singapore Suites and the number of mileage required for bookings both before and on/after March 23, 2017.

The table below shows the number of Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles required for a saver award on a one way flight on each route:

The number of miles for a saver award is not increasing for all routes- Singapore to Hong Kong, India and China did not increase- but you will still need more miles to book these routes without the 15% online discount.

In my experience, flights between Singapore and China and Singapore and India have decent availability even at the last minute. (For example, I found saver awards from SIN-DEL on March 23, 24, 28 and 29 and several days in April.) New York -Frankfurt-Singapore are the hardest saver awards to find but you might find them when the schedule opens 355 days in advance.  (I tried some searches on this route for March 2018 and I did not find any saver awards.)

Hopefully you have enough Singapore KrisFlyer miles in your account to book your award but if not Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate RewardsCiti ThankYou points and Starwood Preferred Guest Starpoints all transfer to Singapore Airlines.  Unfortunately, transfers are not instant – transfers usually take between 1-2 business days except SPG which take longer.  If you transfer now, the miles MIGHT transfer in time to book an award before the devaluation.

Note, that not all flights on these routes have Suites class. Some routes have more than one flight a day but only one of them is on an A380.

To make sure your flight has Suites class, check that the flight is on an A380 which is the only aircraft that has Singapore Suites. To check the aircraft type, click on the arrow next to the flight number and you should see the “Aircraft type: (Airbus Industrie A380-800).”
