If you have a Chase Freedom card, you are probably already familiar with the quarterly 5% categories.
Don’t Forget to Register
If you have not yet activated the 5% for this quarter, just a reminder that the registration period for this quarter ends Sunday, June 14. The activation is retroactive so you will earn 5% on all purchases made at restaurants, Bed Bath & Beyond, H&M and overstock.com this quarter starting April 1.
Please note, that in order to earn the 5% you must activate the offer each quarter (by text, email or other methods). I have signed up for email reminders but you can also activate off your main accounts page as well.
How to Maximize the 5% Bonus
For anyone that still needs to maximize the 5% bonus, there are still over two weeks to do so. If you were not planning on spending a total of $1,500 on your Chase Freedom at restaurants, Bed Bath & Beyond, H&M and overstock.com this quarter, there are a few ways to maximize the bonus:
1. Stock up on gift cards to restaurant(s) that you regularly dine at and use them after June 30. (Personally, I don’t like to do this as I don’t want to have to keep track of gift cards.)
2. Buy gift cards at Bed Bath & Beyond. Bed Bath & Beyond stores sell tons of gift cards to many restaurants, retailers and you may be able to find Visa or MasterCard gift cards.
My local Bed Bath & Beyond gift card rack carries $200 MasterCard gift cards. Here are some photos I took:
