Both Staples and Bed Bath & Beyond are offering rebates on the purchase of Visa gift cards this week.
Here are the details of the rebates offered this week:
Staples is offering a rebate on in-store purchases of Visa gift cards from October 25 through October 31. If you buy $300 or more of Visa gift cards at Staples stores you will receive a $20 Visa prepaid card after easy rebate. There is a limit of 1 rebate per household.
The best cards to use are those that earn 5% in office supply stores. To minimize fees it would be best to buy the highest denomination Visa gift cards you can find (two $200 Visa gift cards assuming your local Staples sells them).
For anyone unfamiliar with the Staples Easy Rebates process here is how it works:
- Buy at least $300 in Visa gift cards using your credit card at a Staples store. The cashier will hand you a rebate form with your receipt.
- Complete and submit your rebate form. I like to do mine online at stapleseasyrebates.com and it only takes a minute or two. There is only 1 rebate per household so you could use your work address or the address of a friend or family member to qualify for additional rebates.
- A few weeks later you will receive your $20 Visa prepaid card by mail.
Bed Bath & Beyond
Per Doctor of Credit, Bed Bath & Beyond is offering a mail-in rebate for the purchase of a $200 Visa gift card from October 25, 2015 through October 31, 2015. The rebate is in the form of a $15 Visa prepaid card and there is a limit of 1 rebate per household. Here is a link to the rebate form.
Visa gift cards are only sold in-store. Last time I checked, my local Bed Bath & Beyond store had $200 Mastercard gift cards and not $200 Visa gift cards so hopefully they will have some this week.
These rebates are a good opportunity to purchase some Visa gift cards without paying a fee. Both rebates are more than the fees you would incur for purchasing Visa gift cards so you would be earning some extra profit in addition to points earned by using a credit card. The Bed Bath & Beyond rebate is a bit more of a hassle than the Staples rebate because it needs to be mailed in and cannot be done online.
I need to spend about $1,000 more to earn the sign up bonuses from my last round of credit card applications so these rebates should help minimize my fees. I live close to both a Staples and Bed Bath so will be stopping by both stores this week to pick up some gift cards.
They wont approve me for Chase Ink, because i have too many recent apps. However, I DO have Chase Business United Explorer, which gives 2 miles per Dollar spent on office supply stores. Still, I dont see this Staples deal as Profitable. Thoughts? I already hit threshold Bonus…just trying to MS some miles now. Should i go 2 miles per Dollar at staples or just 1 X through Giftcard.com, or something like that. Kind of pricey when I have to Pay $7 for $500 VGC, and only earn 500 miles with it. That’s $14, per 1000 miles.
