Today Hilton HHonors posted some minor category adjustments which will become effective January 14, 2015.

The category changes only affect 17 properties- 5 are decreasing and 12 are increasing.

The hotels decreasing a category are all in the US with the exception of the Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa in Bora Bora.

Of the hotels going up a category more than half (7) are in the US.  The remaining 5 hotels that are increasing are in Europe.

Overall the changes are not too bad especially in light of the Hilton Bora Bora going down a category.

These adjustments are minor since they affect only 17 properties but it is worth checking out the list to see if it includes any Hilton properties you are planning on booking with points. If any of the hotels you want to book are on the list of hotels that are going up a category, make sure to reserve at the current award rate before January 14. But if a hotel is going down a category, it would be best to wait until after  January 14 to make your reservation.
