Most of you have probably heard that one of the best sign up bonuses will no longer be available for online applications after today.  The Chase Sapphire Reserve card is currently offering a sign up bonus of 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points [OFFER EXPIRED] after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.  After today, the bonus will drop to 50,000 for online applications.  The 100K bonus will however still be available in Chase branches until at least March 12.  [OFFER EXPIRED]

Who Should Not Apply Today:

If you are over Chase 5/24 like I am, it is very unlikely you will be approved for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card unless you see a selected for you offer in your Chase online account. Your best bet for being approved is to go to a Chase branch and ask if you are preapproved.  If you are not preapproved, update your income in your online profile and you might be preapproved the next month.

Benefits of Chase Sapphire Reserve:

This is the number 1 card, I would recommend to most people collecting miles since it earns Ultimate Rewards points which transfer to a number of airline and hotel partners. In addition to the huge sign up bonus, there are some other great benefits. The benefits of the Chase Sapphire Reserve include:

•  3X Points on travel and dining worldwide
•  $300 Annual Travel Credit (based on calendar year so can use it twice your first year as a cardholder)
•  No foreign transaction fees
•  Complimentary Priority Pass™ Select Membership
•  Global Entry or TSA Pre ✓® Application Fee Statement Credit

There is a $450 annual fee but it is offset by the annual travel credits. Even without taking the annual credits into account, the sign up bonus is worth much more than the annual fee. The 100K sign up bonus is equal to $1,500 toward airfare, hotels, car rentals and cruises when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards.

To summarize, if you are under Chase 5/24, you might want to apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve today or you will have to visit a Chase branch to find the 100,000 sign up bonus.

I don’t have this card yet because I am over Chase 5/24 but I will be stopping by a Chase branch and hope I am preapproved.

I don’t have any affiliate links so here is a direct link from Chase.com. (Update: The Chase Sapphire Reserve sign up bonus has been decreased from 100,000 to 50,000 if you apply online but it is still 100K if you apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve at a Chase branch [OFFER EXPIRED]).
