List of Chase Credit Cards Currently Offering Refer-a-Friend Bonus

There are several Chase credit cards currently offering a referral bonus for referring those credit cards to family or friends if they apply and are approved using your referral link through Chase’s refer-a-friend program.

How Chase Refer a Friend Works

I’ve written before about Chase’s refer-a-friend program which I use to earn extra points when a close family member applies for a new credit card card.  For anyone not familiar, Chase periodically offers the opportunity to earn points for referring its credit cards through visit https://www.chase.com/referafriend.

The way Chase refer-a-friend works is that will you receive 5,000 or 10,000 bonus points (depending on the card) for each person who applies and is approved for a credit card using your referral link. You can invite as many people as you want but there is a maximum cap of 50,000 bonus points per calendar year that you can earn per card.

You can invite specific people by having an email sent to them but it will take up to 7 days for them to receive the email. The referral option also usually gives the option to post a general invitation link on Facebook and Twitter and generate the link instantly. The email lists the application deadline and sign up bonus.

(Warning: Most Chase cards are subject to the Chase 5/24 rule for credit card approvals meaning you will not be easily approved (if at all) if you have applied for more than 5 cards from any bank in the last 24 months. See this post for more information about the 5/24 rule.)

Chase Credit Cards Currently Offering Refer-a-Friend Bonus

The referral bonus is offered for different Chase credit cards at different times so not all Chase credit cards can be referred at all times. Chase does not provide a list of cards that are currently offering referrals so if you want to make a referral you would have to enter your information on visit https://www.chase.com/referafriend for all your Chase cards to see if you are eligible.

Here is a list of the Chase credit cards I found that are currently offering a referral bonus:

Chase Freedom

You will earn 10,000 points (or $100) per referral.  You can refer a friend either by sending them an email (but it will take about 7 days for them to receive it) or sharing your referral link on twitter or facebook for an instant link. Your friend will receive an email in up to 7 days.  Here is our referral link for anyone that would like to use it.

The Chase Freedom is offering a higher than usual sign up bonus of $150 (or 15,000 points) AND $25 (or 2,500 points) bonus when you add your first authorized user and make your first purchase within this same 3-month period.  The normal sign up bonus is $100 (or 10,000 points) but has been as high as $200 (or 20,000 points) in the past.  Now is a good time to apply (since the bonus is $150 rather than the usual $100) but not great (bonus might be $200 again).

Chase Freedom Unlimited

You will earn 10,000 points (or $100 cash) per referral up to a maximum of 50,000 points (or $500 cash) per calendar year. Here is our referral link for anyone that would like to use it.

The Chase Freedom Unlimited is offering a sign up bonus of $150 (or 15,000 points) AND $25 (or 2,500 points) bonus when you spend $500 and add your first authorized user and make your first purchase within 3-months.

Chase Sapphire Preferred

You will earn 10,000 points per referral. You can refer a friend either by sending them an email (but it will take about 7 days for them to receive it) or sharing your referral link on twitter or facebook for an instant link. Your friend will receive an email in up to 7 days.  Here is our referral link for anyone that would like to use it.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred is offering 50,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening and 5,000 bonus points after adding the first authorized user and making first purchase in the first 3 months from account opening.

Please note: Chase is not yet offering a referral bonus available for the new Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

Chase Ink Plus

You can no longer generate a referral link for the Chase Ink Plus card as it is no longer open to new applicants.

Chase Ink Business Preferred

You will earn 20,000 points per Chase Ink Business Preferred up to a maximum of 100,000 points per calendar year. Here is our referral link.

This is a great time to apply for the Chase Business Preferred as it has a sign up bonus of 80,000 Ultimate Rewards points.

Chase Ink Cash

You will earn 10,000 points per referral up to a maximum of 50,000 points per calendar year. Here is our referral link.

This is a great time to apply for the Chase Ink Cash as it has a higher than usual sign up bonus of 30,000 (or $300 cash back) rather than the usual 20,000 (or $200 cash back).

Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier and Plus cards

Chase usually offers a refer-a-friend bonus on the Premier card but this time it is offering it on both the Premier and Plus cards.

You will earn 5,000 points per referral. You can refer a friend either by sending them an email (but it will take about 7 days for them to receive it) or sharing your referral link on twitter or facebook for an instant link. Your friend will receive an email in up to 7 days.

This is a great time to apply for one or more Southwest cards in order to earn 110,000 miles needed for a companion pass as it would be valid for this year and next year. The referral links offer a sign up bonus of 50,000 which is higher than the official 25,000 sign up bonus offered on chase.com.

United Explorer

You will earn 10,000 points per referral. You can refer a friend either by sending them an email (but it will take about 7 days for them to receive it) or sharing your referral link on facebook for an instant link (there is no twitter option). Your friend will receive an email in up to 7 days.   

Unless someone is desperate for United miles I would not use this referral link as it only offers a sign up bonus of 30,000 miles.  United periodically officially offers a 50,000 sign up bonus and can frequently find a link to the 50,000 sign up bonus if you click on the banner from your United account.
