With the holidays rapidly approacing, many of you will be spending even more on Amazon that usual. Wondering what is the best credit card for Amazon purchases? There are a few credit cards that can earn you extra rewards on your Amazon purchases for the rest of this year.
Best Credit Card for Amazon Purchases
Right now the Discover it® Cash Back (our referral link) is the best card for Amazon purchases because it earns the most points for your spending. Discover it® Cash Back earns 5% on Amazon purchases for the fourth quarter of 2020 as part of its quarterly rotating 5% categories.
If you don’t have a Discover it® Cash Back and are planning on spending a lot on Amazon this year, now might be a good time to apply. (For those of you that already have a Discover card, you can earn cash for referring the Discover card to your family or friends if they apply and are approved using your referral link.)

More Credit Cards for Amazon Purchases
Like the Discover card, the ABOC Platinum Rewards Mastercard® Credit Card, the Affinity Pure Rewards Visa® and Affinity Cash Rewards Visa® Signature Credit Card also earn 5% on Amazon purchases for the fourth quarter of 2020, but they do not match all the cash back you’ve earned at the end of your first year like Discover.
Citi Dividend (no longer open to new cardholders), Chase Freedom (no longer offered to new cardholders) and the Chase Freedom Flex all earn 5% on rotating quarterly categories and they sometimes include Amazon. However, Citi already offered 5% on Amazon in the 2nd quarter of 2020 and Chase Freedom already offered 5% on Amazon during the 3rd quarter of 2020, so are they not the best cards to use for Amazon purchases for the rest of this year.
There are two Amazon branded cards that will earn you 3% or 5% on Amazon and Whole Foods. They can be valuable for people that spend a lot of money on Amazon year round or to earn more rewards on Amazon during quarters when neither Discover, ABOC Platinum Rewards Mastercard® Credit Card, Citi Dividend, Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom Flex are not earning 5%.
