Sunflower Farms in Northern Illinois
There are several sunflower fields near Chicago in Northern Illinois. These sunflower fields and mazes make for a great day trip from Chicago in the summer or early fall.
Woody’s Orchard
In addition to sunflowers, Woody’s Orchard has an apple orchard and a U Pick pumpkin patch. There are tons of fun activities for kids including train rides and a Play Yard with a spider web, jump pad, hay maze, big slides, hamster rollers, duck racers, wooden tractors, climbing tire pile and a cedar playhouse.

Von Bergen’s Country Market
Von Bergen’s Country Market is hosting its 4th Annual Sunflower Festival with over 30 acres of sunflowers. Pets are not allowed on the farm except for trained ADA service animals. They will have a variety of events throughout the season, and will post regular updates. Reservations are suggested to ensure entry, since this place is very popular and gets crowded especially on weekends.

Where: 9805 IL Route 173, Hebron, Illinois 60034 about 73 miles northwest of Chicago (close to the Wisconsin border)
Dates: They have various sunflower fields so they have a long sunflower season. They have a sunflower field currently in bloom and expected to remain open through September 8, 2024.
Hours: Open 10:00am to 6:00pm daily (last admission is 5:00 pm)
Cost: General Admission Tickets are $10 per person Monday – Thursday, or $12 per person Friday – Sunday & Holidays. Kids 2 and under are free. Purchase tickets online in advance here.
M&D Farms And Garden Center
M & D Farms And Garden Center is a large garden center but also has a cut your own sunflower field with 4 different varieties. NO professional photography at this time (this is a cut flower field only).

Where: 14946 S. Bell Road, Homer Glen, Illinois (about 31 miles from Chicago)
Dates: Sunflower field closed on August 27, 2024.
Hours: Monday-Friday 9-6, Saturday 9-5, Sunday 9-3 (field closes a half hour before closing times). Hours are subject to change.
Cost: The fee for visitors is $7 each which includes 1 sunflower. The entry fee is
3yrs old and under are $2 each which also includes 1 sunflower. Any additional sunflowers are $2 each.
Keller’s Farmstand
Keller’s Farmstand has a 3-acre pick-your-own sunflower field with 3 acres of sunflowers and over 60,000 blooms. There are photos opportunities in the field. The farm has a children’s play area. Pets are NOT allowed.

Heap’s Pumpkin Farm
Heaps Giant Pumpkin Farm will have over 5 acres of sunflowers, zinnias and other flowers to take photos and cut your own flowers. Tickets are available for purchase.

Dates: The sunflower fields are open on select dates from August 30-September 15, 2024.
Hours: Hours are 10am-6:30pm.

Tom’s Farm Market
Tom’s Farm Market has 4 acres of sunflowers with fun photo ops along the way. They do not have a wagon ride to the Sunflower Field. It is about a 0.2 mile walk from their side yard (5 – 8 minutes). Their is also a small play area for children. Pets are not allowed at the farm. Dates: Sunflower fields are now closed. The were open and in bloom for about 2 weeks from July 17-August 4, 2024.
Hours: Monday – Friday: 10:00am – 4:00pm, last ticket entry at 3:00pm; Saturday: 9:30am – 5:00pm, last ticket entry at 4:00pm & Sunday: 9:30am – 4:00pm, last ticket entry at 3:00pm
Cost: $12 per person which includes access to their small children’s play area.
Stade’s Farm and Market
Stade’s Farm and Market has 2+ acres and 18 different varieties of sunflowers planted last year. They also grow other cut flowers such as snapdragons, zinnias, cosmos, marigolds, and amaranthus. Flower clippers are provided if needed.

Dates: Sunflower picking on the farm will begin around the beginning of July and will last through late September.

Cost: Price for cut your own sunflower flowers is $2 each or $5 for 3 flowers or fill a vase full for $25. (Zinnias may be picked for vases at the same price). They accept all forms of payment except American Express.
Richardson Adventure Farm
Richardson Adventure Farm has 13 acres of sunflowers planted in a whimsical design with 3.2 miles of flowing trail to stroll through. They have many different varieties of sunflowers of many different colors including orange, yellow, gold, red, and peach. Friendly dogs on a leash are welcome.

Goebbert’s Pumpkin Patch
Goebbert’s Pumpkin Patch has 4 acres of bright sunflowers and has strategically placed some fun stops along the path to stage your own photos. No pets are allowed. Check their Facebook page for current updates.

Kuipers Family Farm
Kuipers Family Farm will have over 7 acres of 20+ different sunflower varieties in the fields. The experience goes ‘full bloom’ on weekends with live music and delicious farm-fresh food options on the scenic orchard lawn.

Cost: $14.99 admission Per Person which includes 1 Bloom; $2.00 per extra bloom. Children 2 and under admitted free. They also offer combination tickets for those that want to go apple picking. Admission available on-site only (no online tickets).
Jonamac Orchard
Jonamac Orchard offers U-pick flower experience and fields bursting with Sunflowers, Zinnias and Cosmos. Their zinnia patch will bloom later in September, coinciding with the opening of their Pumpkin Patch. The farm also offers apple picking, U-Pick pumpkin patch (opens September 21, 2024) and a corn maze. There are also many activities for kids including a petting zoo and a Barn Yard Play Area (slides, kid fort & wooden maze, play tractor, duck races, trike track, spider web, kiddie barn, straw bale pile, & “Tiny Town” Donut Shop & School House). Sunflower Fields in North Central Illinois
Matthiessen State Park
Matthiessen State Park is an Illinois state park with beautiful rock formations located a few miles south of the more famous and popular Starved Rock State Park. This underrated park has a 60-acre sunflower field (in the southern part of the park behind the model airplane field).

Dates: Sunflowers are usually in peak bloom around mid-July to late July.

L&A Family Farms

L&A Family Farms has 3 separate flower fields (sunflowers, zinnias and a new wildflower meadow), nature trails, farm animals, and concessions. They will have two NEW offerings this year, Sunflower Yoga and Professional Photography. They ask that visitors sign the WAIVER on their website before coming to the farm.

Sunflower Farms in Southwestern Illinois
Eckerts Farm
Eckerts Farm is the largest family-owned pick-your-own orchard in the US. They have a 2-acre Sunflower Trail.
