We had such a great experience with serviced apartments in Chengdu, we decided to stay at a serviced apartment in Shanghai as well. The Tomorrow Square, Shanghai – Marriott Executive Apartments are in the same building as the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Tomorrow Square. Basically, you have the same convenient services as the hotel, but with an added bonus of separate bedroom, living room and fully equipped kitchen.
Location
Initially, we debated whether to stay on the Puxi or Pudong side of Shanghai. We chose Puxi as we thought there would be more activity on that side. The Tomorrow Square, Shanghai – Marriott Executive Apartments is in a great location near People’s Square and People’s Park (there is a metro station there as well). The start of East Nanjing Road is about a five minute walk. The Bund is walking distance – if like us, you consider a two mile walk reasonable walking distance. A Family Mart and small convenience store are located within a block.
General
Upon arrival, we were initially directed to the reception area for the JW Marriott hotel. We were then re-directed back downstairs to the check in desk specifically for the Marriott Executive Suites.
An ATM and cafe are conveniently located on the ground floor of the property.
Since the Marriott Executive Suites shares the same building with the JW Marriott Hotel, guests have access to shared common facilities such as swimming pools, fitness center and restaurants.
There is an indoor and outdoor pool so you can swim year round.
The 24 hour fitness center is sizable with a variety of equipment.
The Marriott Executive Apartments offers access to a residents lounge with a computer and internet access.
Room
We noticed the great view as soon as we entered the room – we could see the city as well as the pool. Unfortunately, since we had an east facing view, some light peaked through in morning from the top and sides of the blackout curtains. This is not a huge deal but we do appreciate a pitch black room.
Our room rate did not include breakfast or wi-fi. The in room wi-fi was pricey at 120 Chinese yuan a day. Two free bottles of water were included.
The bedroom is separate from the living room and dining area.
The kitchen is fully equipped, with a full size refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher and washer/dryer.
The bathroom was spacious and included bathrobes and slippers.
Service at the hotel was consistently great. We especially appreciated the late checkout time (3pm instead of noon) at no extra charge.
Overall, we had another pleasant stay at serviced apartments with the Tomorrow Square, Shanghai – Marriott Executive Apartments. The location was central and we loved the convenience of home with the perks of hotel service.
