Some of you may have received emails the past couple of weeks about being eligible for a referral bonus from Chase but if not it might still be worth checking to see if you are eligible to make a referral. There are at least five Chase credit cards currently offering a referral bonus for referring those credit cards to family or friends if they apply and are approved using your referral link. (*Update: Click here for an updated list of Chase cards offering a referral bonus.)
How Chase Refer a Friend Works
I’ve written before about Chase’s refer-a-friend program which I use to earn extra points when a close family member applies for a new credit card card. For anyone not familiar, Chase periodically offers the opportunity to earn points for referring its credit cards through https://www.chase.com/referafriend.
The way Chase refer-a-friend works is that will you receive 5,000-20,000 bonus points (depending on the card) for each person who applies and is approved for a credit card using your referral link. You can invite as many people as you want but there is a maximum cap of 50,000 bonus points per calendar year that you can earn total.
You can invite specific people by having an email sent to them but it will take up to 7 days for them to receive the email. The other option is to copy the referral link and share them with your friends and family.
Chase Credit Cards Currently Offering Refer-a-Friend Bonus
The referral bonus is offered for different Chase credit cards at different times so not all Chase credit cards can be referred at this time. Chase does not provide a list of cards that are currently offering referrals so if you want to make a referral you would have to enter your information on https://www.chase.com/referafriend for all your Chase cards to see if you are eligible.
Here is a list of the Chase credit cards I found that are currently offering a referral bonus:
Chase Freedom
You can refer a friend either by sending them an email (but it will take about 7 days for them to receive it) or copy your referral link for an instant link Your friend will receive an email in up to 7 days. Here is our referral link.
Chase Sapphire Preferred
You can refer a friend either by sending them an email (but it will take about 7 days for them to receive it) or copy your referral link for an instant link. Your friend will receive an email in up to 7 days. Here is our referral link for anyone that would like to use it.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Cards
Chase has since updated the referral bonus process for its credit cards that earn Southwest points. You used to only be able to refer people to the specific credit card you had. However, now you can earn a referral bonus if your friend gets any Southwest personal card or the Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Credit Card, even if it is a different card than yours.
The sign up bonus from the Southwest co-branded cards count towards the 110,000 miles needed for a Southwest companion pass which if you earn in 2019 would be valid for all of 2019 and 2020.
United Explorer
Here is our referral link for anyone that would like to use it.
Warning: Chase will not approve anyone for their cards if they are subject to the Chase 5/24 rule for credit card approvals. See this post for more information about the 5/24 rule.
If you are interested in applying for these cards and do not know anyone to send you a referral, we would be grateful if you use our referral links for the Chase Freedom Unlimited, Chase Freedom Flex, United Explorer, or the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
Am I missing any other Chase cards that are eligible for referral right now? You are also welcome to leave your referral link or email in the comments below.
