Whenever I visit Atlanta, I usually book the Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown. I’ve stayed here twice in the past two years and enjoyed my stay both times.  Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown has a convenient location and many amenities.

Location

The Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown is very well located.  The Midtown area of Atlanta is walkable so this a great location to base yourself if not driving or renting a car.  I did not use a car during either of my visits and found it easy to either walk everywhere or use the MARTA (Atlanta’s rapid rail system). The hotel is only a block from the Arts Center MARTA station.  You can take the MARTA to and from the airport.

There are several restaurants and clubs within walking distance.  About half mile walk on 14th Street (the street hotel is located on) is Atlanta’s famous Piedmont Park.

Room

I stayed in a one bedroom suite (all rooms are suites) with a king sofabed.  The suite is spacious and has a separate living room with access to a small balcony.

The living room has a sink as well as an empty mini fridge. The mini fridge includes a small freezer (big enough to fit two small water bottles).

The bedroom is in a separate room from the living room.

There are TVs in the bedroom and living room areas.

The bathroom is connected to both the living room area and the bedroom.  There is a separate tub and shower. A door separates the sink from the shower and toilet area.

Hotel Amenities

Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown has both an indoor and outdoor pool. The two pools are connected to each other so you can swim from one pool to the other.

The fitness center has a decent number of equipment and a view of the pools.

I have not had the opportunity to dine at the hotel’s restaurant, since Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown is walking distance to many restaurants.  (Sidenote: My favorite restaurant in Atlanta, South City Kitchen Midtown, serves southern food and is only a three minute walk from the hotel.)

Conveniently, the hotel sells drinks, snacks and other odds and ends next to the reception desk.

If I had to find something negative about the Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown, it would be that in-room wi-fi was not free at the time  (Marriott has since changed its policy to provide free wi-fi  for Marriott Rewards members booking directly from Marriott).  I did pay for in room wi-fi but at least it was fast. Free wireless is available in the lobby and there is also a business center with free internet access.

The hotel has a smoke-free policy.

Overall

I’ve been happy with my last two stays at the Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown and would definitely stay here again on future Atlanta visits.  This is a convenient hotel with easy access to public transportation.  This would be a good hotel for families due to the in-room fridge, pools, smoke-free policy and proximity to the park.

Booking With Marriott Rewards Points

The Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown is currently a Category 6 property requiring 30,000 Marriott Rewards points for an award stay. Unfortunately, it is on the the list of Marriott properties going up a category in 2015, therefore, starting March 19, 2015, it will become a Category 7 property requiring 35,000 Marriott Rewards points to book.
