United 803
Tokyo Narita (NRT) – Singapore (SIN)
Boeing 777-200
Seats 1A and 2A (First Class)

This flight was the second of three flights on our way from Chicago to Brunei.  We booked this flight as a one way saver award on united.com for 80,000 United MileagePlus miles and $18.90 per person.

Seats

The first class cabin on United’s 777-200 is fairly small with eight seats. The cabin consists of two rows with a 1-2-1 configuration.

Unlike our previous United Global First flight, all seats had overhead storage with enough room for larger carry ons directly above the seats.  There was no floor storage so our personal item also went in the overhead during takeoff and landing.

Seats were spacious and comfy.  In addition to the usual lap belt, a shoulder strap must be fastened for takeoff and landing.

We like lots of compartments to tuck away items we use in-flight….there were plenty available here.

Seats can be made into fully flat beds.  As on our last flight, we took advantage of this and slept really well.

Amenities and Service

Slippers were available but not pajamas.

Surprisingly, this flight lacked an amenity kit.  We were perplexed as the menu claimed one would be provided.

Not that we can’t live without an amenity kit but we were slightly disappointed we left behind the amenity kit we received from our previous United Global First flight, assuming this flight would have one as well.  The flight attendants did pass through the first class cabin with a basket containing eye masks though.  They mentioned toothbrushes were also available.

Food and Drink

The food was pretty good.  Here are photos of the menu and our dinner.

As we were pretty full from our previous United Global first flight, we had dinner but skipped appetizers and dessert- unusual for us.

While we were slightly caught off guard by the lack of amenity kit, we really enjoyed this United Global First flight.  We don’t know if the fully flat bed was just super comfy or we were just super tired but we slept for most of the flight.  United’s first class might not be as nice as a lot of international airlines but it does have the most important factor to us – a comfortable, fully flat bed.  We find United miles easy to collect and redeem, so we anticipate flying United Global First again in the near future.
