If you use Uber (or if you use taxis or other car service in a city where Uber is available and are willing to switch to Uber) here is a chance to earn extra Starpoints which you can redeem to book free travel. Even if you do not live in a city that has Uber, who knows when you might travel to a city that does.
Starwood Preferred Guest introduced its partnership with Uber. This partnership allows you to earn Starpoints for taking Uber rides. For anyone not familiar with Starpoints they can be used for award nights at Starwood hotels or they can be transferred to several airlines.
Before I go into more detail, there are two requirements you must meet before you can earn points:
1) You can earn Starpoints for Uber rides only after you complete a stay at an SPG property in that calendar year.
2) You must have an active SPG member account and Uber account AND your SPG member account and Uber account must be under the same name and use the same email address.
If you meet these criteria, then you can sign up to earn extra Starpoints for using Uber. Normally, you earn 1 Starpoint for every 2 U.S. dollars you spend with Uber. During your stays with SPG, you can earn 2 Starpoints.
How to Sign Up:
If you don’t have an Uber account yet, if you would like to use my referral link you can earn a free Uber ride worth up to $20 and so will I. Another option is to ask a friend or family member that has Uber to invite you so that they earn the free ride or use the a discount code provided by SPG in the terms and conditions. Once you have an Uber account you can also invite your friends or family to earn a free ride for both of you.
To start earning Starpoints for using Uber, sign in at www.spgpromos.com/uber/ and link your SPG and Uber accounts.
After you sign in to SPG you will be prompted to sign into Uber. You must use the same name and email address on both accounts for the accounts to be linked.
If you use Uber, this is a great way to earn extra Starpoints on top of any points earned from your credit cards. For more information about the SPG-Uber partnership, here are the FAQs and the SPG-Uber Benefits Program Terms & Conditions.
