Location

The Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam is located in the downtown area of Bandar Seri Begawan (also called BSB).  Most of the main attractions in BSB are a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel.

A nightly food market is a 2 minute walk.

Tasek Lama Recreational Park is a pleasant 10 minute walk.  Additional running/walking trails are also located in back of the hotel.

Although taxis are difficult to hail in BSB, the front desk can easily call one for you.  The hotel offers a free shuttle at specific times to two main shopping malls.  This is pretty convenient as one of the malls (Yayasan Shopping Centre) is right across the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque.

Check In

Upon arrival to the Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam, we were greeted at the door and our luggage was wheeled to the desk.

Check in was very prompt.  The hotel provided us with a map of BSB, including marked running/walking routes nearby.

Free water and apples are available in the lobby for guests.

Room

The room was nice enough for us.

We stayed in a Superior Room.  We requested a room that was not connecting but were told that all rooms with twin beds are connecting rooms.  It turned out not to be a problem as we never heard any noise from other hotel guests.

Two complimentary bottles of mineral water were left in the room each day.

Free high-speed internet was available in the room.

The mini-fridge was stocked with some beverages and snacks.  As usual, we asked if they could empty everything so we could stock it with our own drinks.

There was one negative in the room.  We spotted a few tiny ants in our bathroom although we’ve found that to be fairly common in humid climates.

Hotel Amenities

The Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam has two restaurants and 24 hour room service.

The restaurants close for two hours on Friday during prayer time.  Per Brunei law, no alcohol is served on the premises.  If you would like to drink, you need to bring your own alcohol into the country.

The pool area was great.  It was large, offered many places to sit and you could order from the restaurant.  Parts of the pool area were tented – much needed in the strong Brunei sun.

The comfy loungers had buttons to push for service.

The fitness center was large and usually empty.

The hotel also has a spa.  We did not have time to check it out but we did snap a quick photo.

There is a small shop in the lobby if you would like to purchase souvenirs without leaving the premises.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam and would definitely return.  The hotel ticked off the boxes for us in location, service and amenities.  Although BSB is a quiet city in general so street noise is not an issue, we appreciated that other guests were quiet as well.
