List of Chase Credit Cards Currently Offering Refer-a-Friend Bonus

There are at least five Chase credit cards currently offering a referral bonus for referring those credit cards to family or friends if they apply and are approved using your referral link. (OFFER EXPIRED: Click here for an updated list of Chase cards offering a referral bonus.)

How Chase Refer a Friend Works

I’ve written before about Chase’s refer-a-friend program which I use to earn extra points when a close family member applies for a new credit card card.  For anyone not familiar, Chase periodically offers the opportunity to earn points for referring its credit cards through https://www.chase.com/referafriend.

The way Chase refer-a-friend works is that will you receive bonus points (the exact number varies depending on the card) for each person who applies and is approved for a credit card using your referral link. You can invite as many people as you want but there is a maximum cap of per calendar year for each card.

You can invite specific people by having an email sent to them but it will take up to 7 days for them to receive the email. Some cards (United and Chase Sapphire Preferred) also offer the option to post a general invitation link on Facebook and Twitter and generate the link instantly. The application link will state the sign up bonus and deadline for applying (which is the same for everyone regardless of when the link is sent).

All Chase cards eligible for referral used to offer the option to invite by Facebook and Twitter but Chase seems to be phasing that option out and limiting invitations to only email. The email lists the application deadline and sign up bonus but that information is not found on the application link. It also seems like there is no longer a fixed deadline but a deadline determined on when the email is sent. I don’t think I would be comfortable applying using an application link that does not state the bonus so I would only use a link generated by an email sent to me.

Chase Credit Cards Currently Offering Refer-a-Friend Bonus

The referral bonus is offered for different Chase credit cards at different times so not all Chase credit cards can be referred at this time. Chase does not provide a list of cards that are currently offering referrals so if you want to make a referral you would have to enter your information on visit https://www.chase.com/referafriend for all your Chase cards to see if you are eligible.

Here is a list of the Chase credit cards I found that are currently offering a referral bonus:

Chase Sapphire Preferred

You must refer your friends by 2/5/2016. Your friends will have until 3/5/2016 to apply, and must be approved and use the card by 6/3/2016.

United Explorer

You must refer your friends by 2/5/2016. Your friends will have until 3/5/2016 to apply, and until 6/3/2016 to use the card. Here is our referral link.

United periodically officially offers a higher sign up bonus on chase.com and you can frequently find a link to the higher sign up bonus if you click on the banner from your United mileage account.

Chase Ink Plus

In order to refer a friend, you will need to fill out the email form -there is no option to share your referral link on twitter or facebook for an instant link. Your friend will receive an email in up to 7 days. The sign up bonus or the deadline for applying is not on the application link but the email I received from a friend stated I must apply by March 4, 2016.   Here is our referral link.

Chase Freedom

 In order to refer a friend, you will need to fill out the email form -there is no option to share your referral link on twitter or facebook for an instant link. Your friend will receive an email in up to 7 days. The sign up bonus or the deadline for applying is not on the application link but the email I received stated I must apply by February 26, 2016.  Here is our referral link.

Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier

There is no option to share your referral link on twitter or facebook for an instant link.  In order to refer a friend-you will need to fill out the email form and your friend will receive an email in up to 7 days. The sign up bonus or the deadline for applying is not on the application link but the email I received from a friend stated I must apply by 2/23/16 to receive 50,000 bonus points.

This is a great time to apply for one or more Southwest cards in order to earn 110,000 miles needed for a companion pass as it would be valid for this year and next year.

    New CSP cardholder here (approved 12/31/15). Would like to refer someone but get “not eligible”. Do you know how long one must be a cardholder to become eligible to refer?

      It seems like there is no set amount of time and is pretty random. I know it is a different card but I know someone who has had an Ink Plus for while and was not eligible.

I just got the companion pass which is so easy to get if you sign up for both these cards when they offer this bonus!         I’m looking to obtain 100k pts at Southwest Airlines in order to get a ‘buddy’ pass. I have a SW credit card currently and believe I will have to cancel it in order to re-apply for a new one. My goal is to complete the required $2k spending in early January to maximize the 2 year life of the pass. I don’t see that SW Air is offering this promotion at this time. Do you have access?

    How long does it take to hmget the referral points? I referred the CSP to my parents earlier this month. They have the card and are using it, but I haven’t seen any points yet.

    I wonder what it is that makes one eligible to refer a friend. My husband and I both have the CSP, and we have never been “eligible” to refer a friend. Frustrating.

      I would like to know this too. I was referred southwest plus card and got approval, now I would like to refer my friend for same card but when I use their website to refer my friend and enter last 4 digits of my card, it says:

      “The information you provided does not match any of our current Chase Refer-A-Friend promotions. Please check to make sure you entered your information correctly, and continue to check back to see if your card becomes eligible in the future.”

      Any idea why cant I refer?

      I have not noticed a pattern on who can refer. Are you opted in to receive marketing emails by Chase? They often send me an email that I am eligible to refer a friend on a certain card.

    I received the Southwest Premier Referral Bonus and am able to refer 10 friends (or random people on the internet) an offer for 50,000 bonus points if they spend $2,000 in the first 3 months. This deal is not being offered currently unless you have a a referral. This is great if you are trying to get a companion pass or just travel this year.

    My friend was pre-approve for CSP. I sent her my link for referral. Chase sent her an email stating it will take them 30 days to decide whether they will approve her application. How come it takes so long? I referred several my friends for Starwood credit card in March and they got approved right away. When they were approved, AMEX gave me 5000 points less than a week. I understand that they are different banks. But it really takes a long time for Chase to process referral. It takes a week for them to send out referral email while it takes AMEX less than a hour.

      You can have them call Chase. Sometimes if you ask for a lower credit line, you can get approved sooner.

    I have referrals for both the Southwest Plus and the Southwest Premier card. Both of these come with a 50,000 point sign up bonus after hitting the $2000 minimum spend. This is an easy way to get the Southwest companion pass and after hitting the minimum spend on both cards you will have 104,000 of the 110,000 points needed. The current offer at Southwest is 40,000 points per card. Without the referral you would be missing out on an additional 20,000 points which will make it that much harder to get the companion pass.

    Click on the bottom link to apply for your card and receive 50,000 bonus point! Southwest is only offering 40,000 points right now through their website.

    These 50,000 bonus points will count towards your companion pass In addition, the Premier cards will get you a yearly 6,000 anniversary points on top of that. I personally have the the companion pass and have benefited very much from it – it’s easier to travel not worrying about paying for the 2nd ticket. I can definitely say it is worth it!

    Get the Southwest Companion Pass the easy way.

    Earn 100,000 rapid reward points by signing for 2 Southwest cards. That is 50,000 points per card. These points are companion pass qualifying. Meet the minimum spending after your December statement and all of the points will post in January 2017. After meeting minimum spends, you will have 104,000 if the 110,000 points needed to earn the companion pass.

    This is the perfect time to apply and will allow you to have the pass nearly 2 years.
